Attention seeking Britney Spears has outdone herself this time.

On Friday, Spears went to Esther’s Haircutting Studio in San Fernando Valley and had them to open it up just for her, where she grabbed an electric clipper and shaved her own head. Following that, she went to a tattoo parlor

J.T. Tognozzi, who owns the salon with his wife, has since set up BuyBritneysHair.com to auction off her hair and other items for a minimum price of $1 million. The winning bidder gets Spears’ dark, knotty hair extensions, the clipper she used to cut them off, the Red Bull she drank at the salon and her cigarette lighter.

Is she wigging out or is this all part of another publicity stunt? After she shaved her head she has since been seen wearing this blonde wig clubbing and sunbathing.

A fellow club goer said “While she was in the club she kept going to bathroom all the time, which was weird.”

According to one source, Britney’s hair was badly damaged from repeated colouring, bleaching and extensions. Britney visited a salon at the Palms hotel and casino during a recent visit to the city and staff found her hair had broken off and thinned to the point that “bald spots had begun to appear”. Some say it has to do with the fear of a custody battle with her ex, Kevin Federline. Another source told the newspaper that Britney’s decision to shave off her head was an act of rebellion against her mother who is begging Britney to enter - and stay in - rehab.

Finally, there is a rumor that has also surfaced suggesting Britney may secretly be starting chemotherapy and shaved her head prior to undergoing treatment just to hide it.

Britney had just recently been drawing criticism for her recent partying and sloppy behavior, and briefly checked into rehab. People magazine’s Web site, citing “a source,” said Spears had gone in and out of rehab.

Some other celebrities have shaved their head in the past, but it was typically for a movie role. We’re not sure about Sinead’s logic. Then there are some just trying to cash in on getting some attention themselves.

Britney Spears has been ridiculed for just about everything, from her 55-hour first marriage to backup-dancer second husband to her recent pantyless partying escapades. Now that she’s entered rehab again,  the joke is over. Industry experts suggest she is a child star that has started to unravel. Those closest to her describe it as the last straw self-destructive act that is a kind of cry for help.

 Last week, Spears checked herself into a rehab facility in Antigua but checked out less than 24 hours later. The pop star’s manager Larry Rudolph confirmed she decided to check into a facility again.

“Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed rehab facility.”

The Web site TMZ.com said Spears had entered an inpatient facility in Los Angeles after family members pressed her to check in.

Britney’s hair has also turned up on eBay, with bidding on one lock of hair fetching as much as $3,000. No word on its authenticity.
