The Next iPhone?

March 8th, 2007 by admin

The iPhone rumours continue, but this has to be one of the best we’ve heard yet. We received a tip that the iPhone will also have a companion soon when its launches in a few months. Say Hello to…

We don’t know the actual name yet, but will refer to it as iPhone Plus. The word is that there will be a mobile version of OSX and many extras like a mini iSight, digital camera, USB, as well as Office and iLife. It’s unclear if it will include a hard drive or flash memory, and how much space it might come with. One would expect at least 30 GB of space to hold your files.

It’s also supposed to be a quad band with Bluetooth and offer both GSM and CDMA, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. No word on how many megapixels the camera is or what can be expected in the way of batter power.

If this is the real deal, I hope it includes wifi.

No way. First of all, apple is proud enough of the fact that they managed to build a device capable of being operated with just one mechanical button, they’re not just going to do a turnaround and build another phone with a whole bloody keyboard on it. Second, I don’t know who thought up that mock-up, but aren’t the icons on the left of the screen a bit unecessary considering the machine is fully running OSX? Also, unless Apple plans to introduce it, they won’t build isight into a device until they perfect the gaze correction issue. They already have a few patent applications filed for devices with tiny cameras embedded into the display, so Im thinking they won’t keep releasing isight hardware until that’s all figured out.
